Mt Donna Buang in a Day

Today, Victoria has recorded double zero – 0 new COVID cases and 0 death. The premier has announced the gradual reopening of the state – wohooo! Soon, Metro Melb and regional VIC will be “as one”. Congratulations to all of us! Thank you to our leaders who keeps on fighting.

Last June 2020, we went to Mt. Donna Buang, a two hour drive from Melbourne, hoping to see snow (although according to forecast, there will be none). There was no snow but we were freezing! 😀 During non winter months, Mt Donna Buang is famous for bikers and hikers. Trails, diverse flora and fauna, and a good chance to see animals in the wild – exciting, right?

Mt. Donna Buang Observation Tower

Address: Mt Donna Buang Summit Rd, Warburton VIC 3799

This is a nice place to experience snow. There are areas for toboggan and BBQ. Just before the stairs going down to toboggan area, there is a toilet. What I like in this country is that toilets are always clean. Also, most of the time, toilet papers are available for the public. Going up the observation tower, it will just take 1-2 minutes. The view was superb!

Rainforest Gallery Walk (Warburton)

Address: Acheron Way, Warburton VIC 3799

Coming from that area, we drove for 5 – 10 mins and went to this amazing Rainforest Gallery. They say that that during night, there is a high chance of spotting animals in the wild. There are metal bridges, stairs, and skywalk. We’ve seen a vast selection of trees and plants. Throughout the trail, there are informative placards.

Redwood Forest Warburton was closed during that day so we went to Warburton Village — and we were very hungry that time.

Warburton Village

There are cafes, bookstore, and bakery here. I saw the happiness of children while eating pizza and ice cream! There’s also a picturesque picnic area along the river and bridge.

We were able to eat a delicious pizza on wheels in a park, further down the road, near Wesburn – Millgrove CFA. I forgot the name. We did not opt to eat in the village since we were starving and there are lines of people.

Although we did not get to experience snow this year, there’s always a next time. For now, let’s focus on the important things. Thanks for reading. Stay safe. ❤

’til next time,
